Greetings Parents and students!
We have had another wonderful week here in fourth grade!! The students have been working very hard.
Our STAR STUDENT this week was Brittney! It was so wonderful to hear about her and her exciting family! We look forward to learning about our classmate Jacob next week!
Report Cards have been sent home today. This is time to CELEBRATE and REFLECT on our growth this nine weeks. Please READ all contents. KEEP ALL CONTENTS EXCEPT WHITE SIGNATURE CARD. Please sign the white signature card and return it in the yellow envelope. Please write your full mailing address and afix TWO stamps to this envelope. RETURN ON MONDAY FOR 4 STICKS!! I am proud of ALL students this term...keep working hard as the content is going to get more in depth!!
We will continue to dig deep into many new and exciting units of study this second nine weeks. Parents please be mindful that content for the remainder of the year will be new, detailed and extensive. Please set up a study system with your son/daughter. Review content material nightly with your child. Ask your child what they have learned, and review standards so that you are aware of what is being learned and taught. Students will be expected to show what they know weekly in various subject areas. I HAVE FULL FAITH IN EACH STUDENT THAT THEY WILL BE SUCCESSFUL FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR WITH THIS PROCEDURE IN PLACE! PARENTS, REMEMBER WE ARE IN A PARTNERSHIP WITH EACH OTHER! Remember all lines of communication need to be open and clear for this to be an AWEOSME YEAR for your child! What are the characteristics of angles?
Continue to practice 3 digit x 2 digit multiplication, and those multiplication and division facts!!! Timed test is on Monday!!!
Social Studies EQ: How did early explorers help find our country?
Science EQ: How can I demonstrate how simple machines use force and motion to make work easier?
PARENTS... PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO BE READING 30 MINUTES NIGHTLY. PLEASE CHECK THE FORD WEBSITE FOR AR BOOKS AVAILABE IN THE MEDIA CENTER. One AR book and one non AR book is what I encourage the children to check out! Something that they will be SUCCESSFUL at!!

Boosterthon Information
On October 19th , we will be kicking off the Boosterthon Fun Run with school-wide Pep Rallies. Here is the schedule of events:
Fun Run Schedule:
Pep Rallies – October 19th (Location: Gym)
12:00-12:30p: Room Parent Rally
12:30p: K, 1,3
1:15p: 2,4,5
Fun Run – October 28th (Location: Ford Track) - A few parent volunteers are needed to pass out water for the runners. Contact Mary Kalafut at kalafoot@juno.com if you can assist!
8:15a: K, 1

10:45a: 2, 5
The Boosterthon Fun Run is interactive, community-based and promotes three specific values: FITNESS, EDUCATION & CHARACTER. Students will be challenged to secure 10 pledges for the laps they will be running on October 28th (Rain Date: October 29th)Students will “run” for 30 minutes and average 25-35 laps with a “lap cap” of 35 laps.
Last year, pledges were received from across 49 states and 10 different countries!!
All proceeds help Ford Elementary sustain the Science Lab, enhance classroom education &
add Technology Lab support by January 2010!
This year's theme is "STAND UP" with Character Lessons focusing on:

Never give up
Discover your talents
The Boosterthon Fun Run is for EVERY student regardless of financial giving. All students receive an All-Star T-Shirt and we invite all parents to come to the Boosterthon Fun Run and share this great event with them!
